About Cetus Protocol
Cetus Protocol: a decentralized exchange and liquidity protocol on Sui
Cetus Protocol is a decentralized exchange (DEX): an app where people swap tokens directly from their own wallets, without a middleman holding their funds. It is built on the Sui blockchain, and a version was also released for Aptos. Cetus describes its aim as simplifying trading for all users and assets. Its token is CETUS.
Key Aspects of Cetus Protocol
1. Concentrated liquidity
Trading on Cetus runs through liquidity pools: liquidity providers deposit pairs of tokens, and traders swap against those deposits. Cetus uses a concentrated liquidity market maker (CLMM), in which each provider chooses the price range where their funds are active, so the same deposit can support more trading. Its pools, called Infinity Pools, are permissionless (anyone can create one) and offer several fee tiers.
2. Trading tools
Cetus' products include a swap aggregator that routes each trade through several liquidity sources on Sui to find a better rate, vaults that manage liquidity positions automatically, and intent trading for limit orders and dollar-cost averaging (buying a fixed amount at regular intervals). It also has a launchpad for new Sui tokens.
3. The CETUS token
CETUS has a fixed maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens. The allocation is 50% for the community and liquidity providers, 20% for the team and advisors, 15% for investors and 15% for a liquidity treasury, with lock-up and vesting periods for the team and investor shares. Users can earn CETUS through liquidity mining, which rewards people who supply liquidity.
4. xCETUS
xCETUS is a non-transferable version of CETUS that represents staked tokens. Holders convert CETUS into xCETUS one to one, and in return gain voting power, a share of the protocol's net fee profit, launchpad allocations and loyalty tiers. Converting back to CETUS takes a vesting period of 15 to 180 days, chosen by the user; the shortest period returns half the amount and the longest returns the full amount.
5. Security reviews
Cetus' smart contracts have been audited by several security firms, including Asymptotic, CertiK, MoveBit, OtterSec and Zellic, according to its website.
