About Aevo
Aevo: a crypto derivatives exchange on its own Ethereum layer 2
Aevo is a decentralised exchange for crypto derivatives: options, perpetual futures (contracts that follow a coin's price with no expiry date), OTC trades and automated strategies, all from a single margin account. It runs on the Aevo rollup, a layer 2 (a network that runs on top of Ethereum to make trading cheaper and faster) built with the OP Stack. Aevo grew out of Ribbon Finance, an options protocol: a Ribbon governance vote, RGP-33, renamed its RBN token AEVO, with RBN exchangeable for AEVO one to one. The protocol is governed by AEVO holders through the Aevo DAO.

1. How it works
Orders are matched off-chain for speed, while trades are settled by smart contracts on the Aevo rollup. The rollup posts batches of transactions to Ethereum, which keeps a public record. Deposits arrive through a standard bridge, and withdrawals pass through a short dispute window before they complete.
2. What the AEVO token is used for
AEVO is the governance token: holders vote on proposals on Snapshot. Staking AEVO gives sAEVO, which brings fee discounts, boosted rewards and double voting weight, and a minimum amount of sAEVO is needed to open a proposal.
3. Token design
The total supply was set at 1 billion AEVO. Under the DAO's buyback-and-burn system, AEVO is bought on-chain each month in amounts linked to the exchange's trading volume, and most of it is burned (permanently destroyed); the rest goes to the DAO treasury for staking and trading rewards.
4. Products
Besides its options and perpetuals exchange, Aevo offers Aevo OTC and Aevo Strategies, automated trading strategies that users can join from the same account.

Aevo is built for traders who use derivatives, from options to perpetual futures, and who want to trade them on-chain from a single account.
Aevo's Milestones
Aevo began as Ribbon Finance, whose RBN token was renamed AEVO after the RGP-33 governance vote. All AEVO tokens were unlocked as of 1 January 2025. The DAO started its buyback-and-burn system with a one-time burn of 69 million AEVO.
