Waves's move in context
Lagging the market today
+0.04% in 24 hours against +0.74% for the market as a whole, a gap of 0.7 points. Small gaps like this are common, so they don't point to anything specific.
We compare the last 24 hours with this coin's typical day, from 7 recent days (up to four weeks). We only count exchanges we read on both days, so an exchange we've just added doesn't look like extra trading. This describes trading, not where the price goes next.
$1.27M traded in the last 24 hours on the exchanges we read, close to its usual day.
The price of each exchange's last trade, read in the past few minutes, in US dollars or dollar stablecoins; markets with little trading are left out. Gaps under 1% are everyday: fees and the gap between buying and selling prices take up most of them.
Waves's last prices on 5 exchanges we read are within 0.40% of each other, so the price above isn't one exchange's quirk.
Part of a slide
−6.9% over 7 days and −24.6% over 30 days: the recent move continues the monthly direction.

About Waves
Waves: an open-source blockchain for decentralized apps
Waves is an open-source blockchain platform for building decentralized apps, with its own smart-contract language called Ride. Its network started in April 2016, when 100 million WAVES tokens were issued. Protocol updates are discussed by the community, and node operators vote to activate new features.
Key Aspects of Waves
1. Leased Proof of Stake
Waves uses Leased Proof of Stake: a node's chance of producing the next block rises with the WAVES it holds, including WAVES leased to it by others. The Waves-NG protocol lets a transaction join a block in about two seconds.
2. Leasing
Holders who don't run a node can lease their WAVES to one. The leased tokens count toward the node's stake, the node shares its rewards with them, and the holders keep control of their coins.
3. What the WAVES Token Is Used For
WAVES pays transaction fees and is used for staking and leasing. Nodes that produce blocks earn the fees plus a share of block rewards in WAVES.
4. Token Design
Waves started with 100 million WAVES. Since October 2019, block rewards have added new WAVES to the supply, and changes to the reward are approved by node voting. The smallest unit, the WAVELET, is one hundred-millionth of a WAVES.
5. Smart Contracts and Tokens
Developers write smart contracts and decentralized apps in Ride, the platform's own language. Anyone can issue their own token on the Waves blockchain, and it can be traded right away.
Waves' Milestones
Waves issued its first 100 million WAVES in April 2016. Block rewards began in October 2019. Node version 1.5, released in October 2023, introduced a Light Node mode, and version 1.6, released in December 2025, added deterministic finality, which makes a block final once its endorsers hold two-thirds of the total active generating balance.

- Price × coins in circulation. It measures a coin's size, not its quality.
- We show a market cap only once the coins in circulation are confirmed by a source we read ourselves, such as an exchange's published figures or the project's own. Until then a coin has no market cap or rank here.
