About U2U Network
U2U Network: a DAG-based blockchain for decentralised infrastructure
U2U Network, first known as Unicorn Ultra, is a layer 1 blockchain, an independent base network, that uses a DAG design and is compatible with Ethereum's smart contracts. It presents itself as infrastructure for DePIN applications, decentralised physical infrastructure networks built from resources that many people contribute. Its native token is U2U, and its mainnet produced its first block in August 2023.
Key Aspects of U2U Network
1. A DAG instead of a single chain
A DAG (directed acyclic graph) is a structure in which new records link to several earlier ones instead of forming one straight line of blocks. U2U builds on this design to process transactions quickly and at scale.
2. Helios consensus
U2U reaches agreement through Helios, its consensus mechanism. It combines aBFT (asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerance, which keeps nodes in agreement even when some fail, misbehave or messages are delayed) with DPoS (delegated proof of stake, where token holders elect a smaller set of validators).
3. Ethereum compatibility
U2U is EVM-compatible: it runs the same kind of smart contracts as Ethereum and supports the standard Ethereum RPC methods, so developers can use familiar Ethereum tools, libraries and wallets.
4. DePIN Subnets
U2U offers a DePIN Subnet layer that developers of infrastructure projects can integrate with, so that their projects can draw on U2U's community and resource pool.
5. What the U2U token is used for
U2U is staked: holders delegate their tokens to validators through U2U's wallet or staking app and earn rewards for helping secure the chain. Operators can also run their own validator nodes.
