About Telos
Telos: a fast layer 1 with an Ethereum-compatible chain and a privacy layer
Telos is an independent blockchain network built on Antelope software. It has two parts: Telos Zero, its native layer, and Telos EVM, which runs Ethereum-style smart contracts. The network also has a privacy layer and one-second finality, and it is supported by the Telos Foundation. TLOS is its native token.
Key Aspects of Telos
1. How it works
Telos Zero handles native accounts and resources, while Telos EVM lets developers use Ethereum tools and wallets. The mainnet runs Savanna consensus, which makes transactions final, meaning they cannot be reversed, in about one second.
2. Privacy
The Telos Privacy layer uses zero-knowledge proofs, a way to prove a transaction is valid without revealing its details, so users can make shielded transfers with zkWallet.
3. What the TLOS token is used for
TLOS pays gas on Telos EVM, allocates resources on Telos Zero, is staked to support the network and is used in governance. It can also be sent privately through zkWallet's shielded transfers.
4. Token design
Gas fees paid on Telos EVM are collected and burned (permanently destroyed) each month, so network use takes TLOS out of supply.
5. Who it is for
Telos is built for developers who want fast, low-cost smart contracts with Ethereum compatibility, and for users who want private transfers and quick confirmations.
Telos' Milestones
In March 2026 Telos began its Zero-Inflation Era, reducing yearly issuance with the Foundation offsetting the remaining new tokens from its reserves, and later that month the Telos Privacy layer went live. In July 2026 the Lightspeed upgrade moved mainnet to Savanna consensus, bringing one-second finality.
