Swarms is an open-source framework for building multi-agent AI systems: groups of AI agents that work together on a task, each with its own role. It is developed by The Swarm Corporation. SWARMS is a token on the Solana blockchain that the project presents as the currency of its agent economy and marketplace.

Swarms is an orchestration framework: it lets developers define several AI agents and connect them in workflows, for example in sequence or in parallel, so they can split up and complete larger jobs. Agents can be written with Swarms Python, the original framework, or Swarms Rust.

Besides the open-source framework, Swarms offers the Swarms API for running agents as a hosted service, and the Swarms Marketplace, where people discover and share agents and tools.

The Swarm Corporation describes SWARMS as the primary currency of the Swarms Marketplace, used for marketplace purchases and subscriptions to premium services. It also describes SWARMS rewards for developers who build agents, tools and frameworks for the ecosystem.
