About Stader
Stader: liquid staking for Ethereum
Stader is a liquid staking platform. Users stake ETH, locking it to help secure Ethereum and earn rewards, and receive ETHx, a token that keeps earning while it can be used in other DeFi apps. Stader is built by Stader Labs, and its SD token has existed on Ethereum since early 2022.
Key Aspects of Stader
1. How liquid staking works
Staking normally locks funds. With liquid staking, Stader stakes users' ETH through many validators and gives them ETHx in return, which they can hold, trade or use as collateral while the staked ETH earns rewards.
2. Node operators
ETHx uses several pools. In the permissionless pool anyone can run validators by posting a bond of 4 ETH per validator, and a permissioned pool uses selected operators.
3. What the SD token is used for
SD is Stader's governance token, which lets the community take part in shaping the platform. Permissionless node operators also bond SD worth at least 10% of their ETH bond for each validator and earn SD rewards on it.
4. Token design
SD has a maximum supply of 150 million tokens on Ethereum, with bridged versions on other chains.
5. Who it is for
ETH holders who want staking rewards without running their own validator, and node operators who want to run validators with a smaller bond than the 32 ETH a solo validator needs.
