Sperax: an auto-yield stablecoin and DeFi tools on Arbitrum
Sperax builds decentralized finance (DeFi) products around USDs, a stablecoin that earns yield on its own. USDs runs on Arbitrum, a layer 2 network on top of Ethereum with lower fees. The community governs the protocol through the Sperax DAO, and the SPA token exists on Ethereum and Arbitrum.
Key Aspects of Sperax
1. USDs, an auto-yield stablecoin
USDs is a stablecoin aimed at a value of one US dollar, fully backed by a basket of approved stablecoins. Holders earn yield automatically in their wallets: the protocol puts collateral to work in DeFi strategies and pays the yield in USDs, with no staking or claiming needed.
2. What SPA is used for
SPA is the governance and value-accrual token. Holders lock SPA to receive veSPA, a non-transferable balance that sets their share of staking rewards and their voting power. Longer locks give more veSPA, and stakers earn fees from the minting and redeeming of USDs.
3. Buyback and burn
A share of the protocol's yield and its USDs fees goes to a buyback contract, where anyone can sell SPA for USDs. Part of the SPA collected this way is burned, permanently removing it, and the rest goes to USDs holders. Governance can change these shares.
4. xSPA rewards
xSPA is the ecosystem's reward token, distributed to veSPA holders as rewards.
5. Token design
SPA's tokenomics set an initial supply of 5 billion tokens, with allocations for the treasury, the foundation, staking rewards, liquidity, the team and advisors, and a private sale.
