About Ovr
Ovr: the token of OVER, 3D maps of the real world for AR, robots and AI
Ovr (OVR) is the token of OVER, a project that builds a 3D mapping dataset of real places, created by its community of mappers. The maps let phones, AR glasses and robots work out exactly where they are, and support AR (augmented reality, digital content placed over the real world) and AI that understands physical spaces. OVR launched on Ethereum in December 2020, and the project is run by OVER Holding.
Key Aspects of Ovr
1. Map2Earn
In the Map2Earn programme, contributors map locations to create 3D maps. Each mapped place becomes part of OVER's dataset, which serves businesses and is used to train large geospatial models (AI models of the physical world).
2. Visual positioning
OVER's Visual Positioning System lets any camera-equipped device find its exact position and direction in the physical world, giving AR apps and robots precise location on the places that have been mapped.
3. OVRLand
OVRLand divides mapped space into plots of about 300 square metres. Owners of an OVRLand plot hold the rights to publish AR content at that location and receive a share of business revenue from it.
4. Token design
The OVR supply is fixed at 89,893,756 tokens, set by a token-holder vote that ended the original bonding-curve sale. Governance can also decide to burn part of the foundation's ecosystem allocation.
5. Tools and who they are for
Creators and brands use OVER's AR Builder, Web Builder and Unity SDK to publish AR experiences, while companies and robotics teams use its 3D mapping data.
Ovr's Milestones
OVR launched on Ethereum in December 2020 through an Initial Bonding Curve Offering. In April 2023 token holders voted to close that offering and fix the total supply. In May 2025 OVER filed a patent application for a visual positioning system that runs in a trusted execution environment, designed to keep a device's camera data private.
