Merlin Chain's move in context
Beating the market today
+2.48% in 24 hours against +0.81% for the market as a whole, a gap of 1.7 points. Small gaps like this are common, so they don't point to anything specific.
We compare the last 24 hours with this coin's typical day, from 11 recent days (up to four weeks). We only count exchanges we read on both days, so an exchange we've just added doesn't look like extra trading. This describes trading, not where the price goes next.
$322.15K traded in the last 24 hours on the exchanges we read, close to its usual day.
The price of each exchange's last trade, read in the past few minutes, in US dollars or dollar stablecoins; markets with little trading are left out. A last price isn't an offer: what you'd pay also depends on fees, the gap between buying and selling prices, and how much is for sale.
Merlin Chain's last prices on 4 exchanges we read run from $0.0299 on HTX to $0.0302 on Bybit, 1.0% apart. Compare before you buy: fees and how much is for sale at each price differ too.
Part of a climb
+11.7% over 7 days and +1.7% over 30 days: the recent move continues the monthly direction.

About Merlin Chain
Merlin Chain: a layer 2 network for Bitcoin
Merlin Chain is a layer 2 for Bitcoin, a separate network linked to Bitcoin that adds faster, cheaper transactions and smart contracts (programs that run on a blockchain). It is compatible with Ethereum-style apps and supports Bitcoin-native assets such as BRC-20 tokens. Merlin Chain came out of Bitmap Technology and launched in 2024. MERL is its native token.
Key Aspects of Merlin Chain
1. How it works
Merlin combines a ZK-rollup, which bundles many transactions and proves they are valid with zero-knowledge proofs (maths that confirms a result without redoing the work), with a decentralised oracle network, a data availability layer and fraud-proof modules on Bitcoin. Its technology builds on Polygon's toolkit for this kind of chain.
2. Bitcoin assets on Merlin
Users can bridge BTC onto Merlin and use it in apps, along with tokens and collectibles from Bitcoin protocols such as BRC-20, Bitmap and Atomicals.
3. What the MERL token is used for
MERL is used to vote on proposals, to stake for network security, to delegate to network nodes, and as liquidity and collateral in apps.
4. Token design
The total supply of MERL is 2,100,000,000. Its design releases tokens over four years according to a published vesting schedule.
5. Who it is for
Merlin is aimed at Bitcoin holders who want to use their BTC in decentralised apps, and at developers who want to build for Bitcoin users with familiar Ethereum tools.
Merlin Chain's Milestones
Bitmap Technology announced Merlin Chain in January 2024, and its mainnet went live in February 2024. The MERL token began trading in April 2024. In January 2025, Merlin upgraded its mainnet to a newer version of Polygon's chain toolkit, and in February 2025 it launched the first stage of proof-of-stake staking for MERL.
