About LUKSO
LUKSO: a blockchain for digital identity, creators and culture
LUKSO is a layer 1 blockchain, an independent base network, built on the Ethereum software stack and focused on digital lifestyle, social, cultural and creative uses. Its native coin is LYX, which plays the same role on LUKSO that ETH plays on Ethereum. The network went live in May 2023.
Key Aspects of LUKSO
1. Universal Profiles
A Universal Profile is a smart account, a wallet built as a smart contract, that works like a user-friendly online profile. It can be controlled from several devices with fine-grained permissions, and a relay service can pay transaction fees on the user's behalf, so that people do not have to manage gas themselves.
2. LUKSO Standard Proposals (LSPs)
LUKSO defines its own set of open standards, called LSPs. Examples are LSP1, the Universal Receiver, which handles notifications when assets arrive; LSP6, a key manager for granting and revoking permissions; and LSP25, which lets a relay sponsor transactions so that new users can start without holding gas.
3. What the LYX coin is used for
LYX is LUKSO's native coin. It is used to make transfers and transactions on the network, and holders can stake it, directly as validators or through a staking provider, to earn staking rewards.
4. Security and consensus
LUKSO uses the same consensus design as Ethereum: Casper FFG, which marks blocks as final, combined with the LMD-GHOST fork choice rule, known together as Gasper. Validators take turns proposing and confirming blocks. Its chain ID is 42.
5. Token design
The network started from a distribution of 42 million LYX, a figure chosen by the genesis validators, who voted for it when they deposited their LYXe. LYXe is the earlier ERC-20 token on Ethereum that was used to start the mainnet, and holders can move it to LYX through the LUKSO Migration Bridge.
