About LightLink
LightLink: an Ethereum layer 2 for gasless transactions
LightLink is an Ethereum layer 2, a network that runs on top of Ethereum to make transactions faster and cheaper, designed so apps and businesses can offer their users transactions without gas fees. The team has built blockchain solutions for enterprises since 2017, and the LightLink mainnet launched in 2023. LL is the network's token, used for governance.
Key Aspects of LightLink
1. How It Works
LightLink is EVM-equivalent, so apps written for Ethereum in the Solidity language run on it unchanged. Its design separates consensus, execution and data availability (where transaction data is published), and it uses Celestia, a separate network, for data availability.
2. Enterprise Mode
With Enterprise Mode, an app or business pays a fixed price in stablecoins for a set amount of gas and registers its smart contracts to use it. Its users can then send transactions with a gas price of zero, so they need no tokens in their wallet to use the app.
3. What the LL Token Is Used For
LL holders take part in governance through a DAO built on the Aragon framework. They can vote on proposals from any supported chain, create proposals if they meet the minimum threshold, and delegate their voting power to other community members.
4. Token Design
LL follows LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token standard, which lets the same token move directly between Ethereum, LightLink and Base without a separate wrapped version on each chain.
5. Products
Alongside the network, LightLink built Stella, a chain-abstracted wallet that hides the differences between blockchains from the user, and an Enterprise Dashboard where enterprises and the community can follow network usage.
LightLink's Milestones
The LightLink mainnet launched in 2023. In September 2025 a new LL token, issued on Ethereum, LightLink and Base, replaced the earlier token, which was renamed LL (legacy).
