Klever: a crypto company with its own wallet and blockchain
Klever is a crypto company whose products include Klever Wallet and KleverChain, its own layer 1 blockchain (a main network, not one built on top of another), which launched in July 2022. KLV is the native token of KleverChain.
Key Aspects of Klever
1. How KleverChain works
KleverChain uses proof of stake: validators lock up KLV to produce blocks, and they are chosen from a set of masternodes that keep the network running. Upgrades take effect after validators install the new software.
2. What the KLV token is used for
KLV pays transaction fees, is staked by validators and delegated by holders to earn rewards, and is used to create tokens and run smart contracts on KleverChain. Klever says KLV paid as network fees is burned automatically, which lowers the total supply over time.
3. Smart contracts with the Klever Virtual Machine
The Klever Virtual Machine (KVM) lets developers write smart contracts in Rust. It also adds semi-fungible tokens (tokens that can be partly interchangeable, such as event tickets) and a bridge contract for Ethereum.
4. KFI and governance
Alongside KLV, the KFI token governs Klever's blockchain applications: holders can vote on protocol settings and approve new apps on-chain.
5. Who it is for
Klever serves wallet users and developers who want a low-cost chain for creating tokens and running apps.
Klever's Milestones
KleverChain's mainnet launched on July 1, 2022. In late 2025, Klever brought the KVM upgrade to mainnet, adding Rust smart contracts and semi-fungible tokens to the chain.
