About Gravity
Gravity: a Layer 1 blockchain and the G token of the Galxe ecosystem
Gravity is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain, a base network with its own validators, with an oracle built into the protocol. G is its native token and also the utility token of the Galxe ecosystem, a web3 platform known for community quests and on-chain identity. G replaced Galxe's earlier GAL token in July 2024, and Gravity's Layer 1 mainnet went live in 2026.
Key Aspects of Gravity
1. How It Works
Gravity combines a parallel EVM execution layer, which processes many transactions at once while staying compatible with Ethereum apps, with a fast-finality BFT consensus protocol derived from AptosBFT, a voting method that makes blocks final quickly. Its native oracle is built into the protocol rather than added as a set of smart contracts, so outside data can be brought on-chain without a separate service.
2. From Alpha Mainnet to Layer 1
Gravity originally launched in 2024 as Gravity Alpha Mainnet, an Ethereum rollup (a network that bundles transactions and settles them on Ethereum) built on the Arbitrum Nitro stack. The Layer 1 mainnet then became Gravity's production chain.
3. What the G Token Is Used For
G is the gas token that pays for transactions on Gravity, and it secures the network through staking. It is also used in governance and to pay fees for applications built by Galxe, such as Galxe Quest, Galxe Passport and Galxe Score.
4. Token Design
G started with an initial total supply of 12 billion tokens. Holders migrated GAL at a ratio of 1 GAL to 60 G, and the GAL was burned during the swap. Besides being native to Gravity, G exists as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and other chains.
Gravity's Milestones
After the Galxe DAO approved the proposals, the GAL-to-G migration opened in July 2024. Gravity Alpha Mainnet launched in 2024 as an Ethereum rollup, and Gravity's Layer 1 mainnet launched in 2026, with its genesis allocation set up in May 2026.
