Ergo's move in context
Beating the market today
+1.52% in 24 hours against +0.73% for the market as a whole, a gap of 0.8 points. Small gaps like this are common, so they don't point to anything specific.
We compare the last 24 hours with this coin's typical day, from 11 recent days (up to four weeks). We only count exchanges we read on both days, so an exchange we've just added doesn't look like extra trading. This describes trading, not where the price goes next.
$85.03K traded in the last 24 hours on the exchanges we read, close to its usual day.
The price of each exchange's last trade, read in the past few minutes, in US dollars or dollar stablecoins; markets with little trading are left out. A last price isn't an offer: what you'd pay also depends on fees, the gap between buying and selling prices, and how much is for sale.
Ergo's last prices on 2 exchanges we read run from $0.2831 on MEXC to $0.2862 on KuCoin, 1.1% apart. Compare before you buy: fees and how much is for sale at each price differ too.
Part of a slide
−3.6% over 7 days and −11.8% over 30 days: the recent move continues the monthly direction.

About Ergo
Ergo: a proof-of-work blockchain for financial contracts
Ergo is a layer 1 blockchain designed for decentralized finance, with smart contracts written in its own language, ErgoScript. It is secured by proof of work, where miners compete with computing power to add blocks, and it uses an extended UTXO model, in which coins sit in separate boxes, each protected by its own spending rules. Development began in 2017, the mainnet launched in July 2019, and the Ergo Foundation supports the ecosystem.
Key Aspects of Ergo
1. How it works
Every coin on Ergo is guarded by a small ErgoScript program that says who can spend it, when and under what conditions. ErgoScript is built on Sigma protocols, a family of cryptographic proofs that make features such as multi-party and privacy-preserving signatures easier to build.
2. What the ERG token is used for
ERG pays transaction fees, rewards miners for securing the network, and is used across Ergo's apps, for example as collateral in decentralized finance.
3. Token design
The total supply is capped at 97,739,925 ERG. Most of it is paid to miners as block rewards over time, and a smaller share, about 4.4%, went to the foundation treasury at launch. The block reward steps down on a fixed schedule, and a soft fork known as EIP-27 stretched mining rewards from about 2027 to around 2045.
4. Mining
Ergo uses its own proof-of-work algorithm, Autolykos. Anyone with suitable hardware can mine, alone or through a mining pool.
5. The ecosystem
Ergo's apps include Rosen Bridge, which connects Ergo to other blockchains, decentralized exchanges, stablecoin projects, and tools for crowdfunding and mining pools.

- We show a market cap only once the coins in circulation are confirmed by a source we read ourselves, such as an exchange's published figures or the project's own. Until then a coin has no market cap or rank here.
