Bubblemaps: visual analytics for blockchain data
Bubblemaps is an on-chain analytics tool that draws the holders of a token as bubbles, so anyone can see how its supply is spread and spot wallets that are likely controlled by the same owner. It covers many blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain, and is operated by Bubblemaps SAS. Its BMT token launched in March 2025 on BNB Chain and Solana.
Key Aspects of Bubblemaps
1. How a Bubble Map Works
Each significant holder of a token appears as a bubble, sized by its share of the supply. When wallets look like they belong to the same entity, Bubblemaps links them with lines and gives them the same colour, forming a cluster. Clusters are inferred from signals such as shared funding sources, trading at the same moments, buying in the token's launch block, and common counterparties.
2. Products
Bubblemaps V2 added real-time data, deeper wallet exploration, a view of a token's full history and Magic Nodes, which automatically show context about known wallets such as exchanges. The Intel Desk is a community platform where analysts submit research cases, the community votes on which ones to investigate, and findings are shared publicly. Other apps can embed bubble maps through an iframe or the Bubblemaps API.
3. What the BMT Token Is Used For
BMT powers the Intel Desk: holders use it to submit cases and vote on which investigations should be carried out. Proposers whose cases are chosen earn BMT, voters get early access to findings, and contributors who help with investigations are rewarded. BMT also unlocks advanced features in Bubblemaps V2.
4. Token Design
BMT has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens. It exists on Solana and BNB Chain and moves between them through LayerZero, a cross-chain messaging system. Its allocations follow a fixed schedule, with the full supply unlocking four years after listing.
5. Who It Is For
Bubblemaps is used by traders researching a token before they buy, researchers and journalists looking for on-chain evidence, and security and compliance teams tracing funds.
