BitShares's move in context
Lagging the market today
−11.80% in 24 hours against +0.74% for the market as a whole, a gap of 12.5 points. A gap this wide suggests something specific to BitShares may be moving it, not just the market mood.
We compare the last 24 hours with this coin's typical day, from 11 recent days (up to four weeks). We only count exchanges we read on both days, so an exchange we've just added doesn't look like extra trading. This describes trading, not where the price goes next.
$77.59K traded in the last 24 hours on the exchanges we read, close to its usual day.
The price of each exchange's last trade, read in the past few minutes, in US dollars or dollar stablecoins; markets with little trading are left out. A last price isn't an offer: what you'd pay also depends on fees, the gap between buying and selling prices, and how much is for sale.
BitShares's last prices on 2 exchanges we read run from $0.0008824 on Gate.io to $0.0008914 on MEXC, 1.0% apart. Compare before you buy: fees and how much is for sale at each price differ too.
Part of a slide
−7.7% over 7 days and −34.7% over 30 days: the recent move continues the monthly direction.

About BitShares
BitShares: a blockchain with its own decentralised exchange
BitShares is a public blockchain for decentralised finance that combines a built-in exchange, tokens anyone can issue, and price-tracking assets in one network. Its core token is BTS. The network in its present form, BitShares 2.0, launched in October 2015, and its open-source node software, BitShares Core, is developed on GitHub.
Key Aspects of BitShares
1. A built-in decentralised exchange
Trading happens directly on the blockchain, without a company holding users' funds. BitShares supports order books, where buyers and sellers post prices, and liquidity pools, also called automated market makers, where trades run against a shared pool of tokens.
2. Market-pegged assets
BitShares lets users create market-pegged assets, sometimes called smartcoins: tokens designed to track the value of something else, such as a national currency. They are backed by collateral locked on the blockchain, and their reference prices come from independent feed producers.
3. User-issued assets
Individuals and businesses can create their own tokens on BitShares and trade them on the same exchange, which makes it a general platform for digital assets.
4. Governance by BTS holders
BitShares is run by its BTS holders, who decide the network's direction through voting and a decentralised worker system that funds development.
5. What the BTS token is used for
BTS is the network's core asset: it is needed to submit transactions on BitShares, it carries holders' votes, and it can serve as collateral.
BitShares' Milestones
BitShares 2.0, the first version based on the Graphene toolkit, was released in October 2015. BitShares Core 7.0, named Suez, followed in September 2023.
