ao Computer's move in context
Beating the market today
+12.59% in 24 hours against +0.74% for the market as a whole, a gap of 11.8 points. A gap this wide suggests something specific to ao Computer may be moving it, not just the market mood.
We compare the last 24 hours with this coin's typical day, from 11 recent days (up to four weeks). We only count exchanges we read on both days, so an exchange we've just added doesn't look like extra trading. This describes trading, not where the price goes next.
$86.69K traded in the last 24 hours on the exchanges we read, close to its usual day.
The price of each exchange's last trade, read in the past few minutes, in US dollars or dollar stablecoins; markets with little trading are left out. A last price isn't an offer: what you'd pay also depends on fees, the gap between buying and selling prices, and how much is for sale.
ao Computer's last prices on 2 exchanges we read run from $3.62 on Gate.io to $3.80 on MEXC, 4.9% apart. Compare before you buy: fees and how much is for sale at each price differ too.
Trend has turned
+6.8% over 7 days and −19.2% over 30 days: the last week went against the monthly direction.

About ao Computer
ao Computer: a decentralised computer built on Arweave
ao (also written AO) is a decentralised computing system in which many independent programs, called processes, run side by side and work together by sending each other messages. Every message settles on Arweave, a blockchain designed for permanent data storage. Forward Research develops HyperBEAM, its open-source reference implementation. The AO token is capped at 21 million, and ao's mainnet launched in February 2025.
Key Aspects of ao Computer
1. Processes and messages
Processes communicate by passing messages, a design known as the actor model, and any number of them can run in parallel. A process is a persistent, shared program that others can use, much like a small server of its own.
2. Arweave as permanent memory
All messages, each in the same format, are stored on Arweave's decentralised data layer. Because the message history is kept, the state of a process can be checked by anyone.
3. AO-Core and HyperBEAM
AO-Core is the protocol that defines how these decentralised computations work. HyperBEAM, written in Erlang, is its reference implementation: computing features plug in as modules called devices, and program states are represented as web (HTTP) documents.
4. The AO token
AO has a maximum supply of 21 million tokens, a number borrowed from Bitcoin. It was distributed through a fair launch: instead of being sold in advance, tokens went to holders of AR, Arweave's token, and to users who deposited assets into ao's test network.
5. Who it is for
ao is aimed at developers who want to run programs, apps and automated agents on a shared, verifiable computer. With the aos command line, a developer can start a personal process and send it commands, much like logging into a cloud server.
ao Computer's Milestones
AO tokens were first distributed while ao ran as a test network. Its mainnet launched in February 2025, and the AO token became transferable with it.
