Animecoin: a community token for anime fans, backed by Azuki
Animecoin (ANIME) is a token designed to turn the anime industry into a community-owned creative network, where fans help shape projects and share in the culture around them. It is backed by Azuki, a Web3 anime brand known for its NFT collections. ANIME is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and also exists on Arbitrum, a layer 2 (a network that runs on top of Ethereum to make it cheaper), and it launched in January 2025.

1. What the ANIME token is used for
ANIME is both a utility and a governance token. Holders can vote on network governance decisions, it is the gas token of Animechain, and it can be used for purchases on Anime.com.
2. Animechain
Animechain is the project's own network: a layer 3, a chain that settles to Arbitrum, built with Arbitrum Orbit technology. ANIME is its gas token, and the chain supports sponsored transactions, so apps can cover fees for newcomers who do not yet hold crypto.
3. Token design
The maximum supply is fixed at 10 billion ANIME, so no tokens can be created beyond that limit.
4. The ecosystem
The ecosystem draws on Azuki's characters and its Azuki, Elementals and Beanz NFT collections. Its flagship app is Anime.com, built as a home for anime fans.
5. Who it is for
Animecoin is aimed at anime fans, collectors and creators who want a say in community projects and a way to take part in anime culture on-chain.
