About Aleph.im
Aleph.im: a decentralized cloud for storage and computing
Aleph.im is a decentralized cloud platform: instead of one company's data centres, a network of independently run servers provides storage, virtual machines and other computing services. The project started as aleph.im in 2019 and took the name Aleph Cloud in April 2025. It works with several blockchains, and its ALEPH token pays for resources and rewards the people who run its nodes.
Key Aspects of Aleph.im
1. How It Works
The network has two kinds of nodes. Core Channel Nodes form the backbone of the peer-to-peer network and act as entry points for apps, much like the RPC nodes of a blockchain. Compute Resource Nodes supply the actual computing power and storage, and each one is tied to a Core Channel Node. Aleph.im is not a blockchain itself: it uses its token, which works across several blockchains, for payments and node rewards.
2. Services
The platform offers virtual private servers, GPU computing, serverless functions (small programs that run on demand), confidential virtual machines, website hosting, storage with IPFS integration (IPFS is a peer-to-peer file system) and indexing of blockchain data. Developers can use it through a web dashboard, APIs and SDKs for languages such as Python and TypeScript, and users connect with their own crypto wallet.
3. Confidential Computing
Confidential virtual machines rely on hardware-based encryption and attestation, a way for the hardware to prove what code is running, so workloads stay protected and their security can be verified.
4. What the ALEPH Token Is Used For
ALEPH pays for cloud services such as instances, functions and hosting, which can also be paid in stablecoins. Holders can stake ALEPH to help secure the network and earn rewards, run Core Channel Nodes to earn ALEPH, and take part in governance. ALEPH is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Solana.
5. Who It Is For
Aleph.im is aimed at developers and teams building decentralized apps, AI services and web3 projects who want cloud infrastructure that does not depend on a single provider.

The project started as aleph.im in 2019, offering decentralized storage and computing for blockchain apps. In April 2025 it was renamed Aleph Cloud.
